Mazda launches its fully redesigned "Familia van" featuring an enlarged easy-to-use cargo area, a more functional interior and improved exhaust emissions and fuel economy.
The Mazda Motor Corporation has released the all-new Familia Van which is a commercial vehicle for the japanese market, many improvements and practical features were added, it is now available in the Mazda network, nationwide.
Enhancements
This new version benefits from a larger cargo space with greatly increased capacity and the floor has been lowered and flattened, the rear aperture increased so as to facilitate loading and unloading of items in the trunk area.The cabin is packed with features to maximize the use of available space: a foldaway table that is attached to the passenger seatback can support a computer, the center console box with a whiteboard dry-erase writing surface built onto its lid and a tray which can hold a briefcase at the rear of the console, to name a few.
Interior
The significantly improved cargo area is mostly based on an increased capacity.The length (1.952mm), width between wheels (1.150mm) are among the best in this category of vehicles.The trunk liftgate is 995mm which is 90mm greater than the previous model, the height of the cargo floor from the ground is 525mm. All these dimensions, together with the flat cargo floor design, make loading and unloading easier without putting undue strain on the person performing the work.
The cabin has also been the subject to modifications making it more user-friendly and to enhance operability and utility. Among those; a foldaway computer table on the passenger seatback, a whiteboard dry-erase writing surface on the center console top box lid, a briefcase tray at the rear of the console, a driver's side pullout cup holder with a bottle cap tray...the list is long.
Safety equipment
Are included as standard equipment the following features; an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbag (for all grades), the EBD ( Electronic Brake Force Distribution), ABS (Anti -lock Brake System) and brake assist features. The front passenger seatbel pre tensionners and load limiters are available on all grades while the Autolight System (which switches headlights automatically on) is only equipping the VX and GX grades.
Low emissions and fuel consumption
3 engines are part of the offer for the Mazda Familia Van; 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8 liter DOHC (4 cylinders)fitted with a 4-speed automatic gearbox in FWD or AWD. (The changes listed in this article are available only on the FWD versions).
All models meet Japan's 2005 exhaust emission standards with the 1.2 and 1.5 liter versions qualifying for the japanese government's Green Tax exemptions.
With all these new features and improvements, Mazda plans on selling the entire Familia Van model range at about 300 units a month.
