Conclusion:
So...what to think about this new Impreza S-GT, the equivalent of a WRX in Europe and the USA? Some will certainly have a hard time dealing with the new style of this Rally Monster but once behind the wheel, this Subaru remains a Subaru and I have to admit that I enjoyed driving it more than I did looking at it...and isn't that the most important?!? A couple modifications and parts from the Subaru Tecnica International catalog could pretty easily turn this nice family hatchback into a hotlap threat for all those who are looking for sensations...on a private race track of course!
For the others, all the skepticals concerned by the arrival of a diesel engine and other « not so sporty looking things », I'd tell them that Subaru is still alive and in a couple months, I'll do my best to grab as much informations as possible on the TRUE WRX Sti which will be presented in October 2007 at the Tokyo Auto Salon! Before a possible test drive, fingers crossed!

So you would'nt be very dissapointed everytime you go out to your garage and see what a piece of horrible looking machinery you'ved just bought.
Surely you must have a bit more taste than that.
The only saving grace for this one is the fact it has a better suspension package than the last did, and also seen on a few websites that this new series Impreza will actually be cheaper by a thousand dollars once it finally comes-out ( probably their expecting it not to sell that much as before... )
The mere fact that just mentioning ( WRX ) and ( STI ) and better more with both of them at the same time gives you goosebumps, but with this... just destroys everything.
It has dumbed-down the cult status it had before, it will leave the Subaru brand with such a bad after-taste not to mention a lot of them jumping overboard to the other cult-car ( Mitsubishi Lancer/ Evo - which looks really aggresive and awesome )

Well, do not get me wrong, I am not a big fan of this new Impreza, and since I saw the new look of this car I was pretty hard on it, BUT... once you are driving it, this is complete new story, I had a lot of fun with it... Yes this car is less powerful that its predecessor, but Subaru warmed us... this is first of all a Family car... the real race car will come later...
You know I drove so many cars where I was exciting about and expecting a lot, but once inside, I was so disappointing (The last one was the LS600h), so for once, here comes a car I was reluctant to test drive (I was almost ready to not even bother), and once on board... well I had fun... Now we shall wait for the WRX STI and the EVO...

The Subaru Impreza WRX five-door hatchback (known as the Impreza S-GT in Japan) features a turbocharged 2.0-liter version of the Subaru boxer-4, and it produces 248 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. When this car is introduced to the U.S. this fall as a 2008 model, it will have a 2.5-liter iteration of this engine that produces about 225 hp and 226 pound-feet of torque.
WRX package is pretty familiar, and apparently the same can be said of the STI with same features like subaru fuel pump, and others.. Does this mean there's a hot-rod diesel in the Impreza's future?
