In the SUZUKA GT 300km race, Round 1 of the 2008 AUTOBACS SUPER GT held at the Suzuka Circuit (one lap 5.807 km x 52 laps) in Mie Pref. on March 16, the XANAVI NISMO GT-R driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Benoit Treluyer took the win.
With this, Nissan's new sports car, the Nissan GT-R released on the market last autumn, scored an impressive victory in its official debut race.
The race started exactly at 14:00. Starting from the pole position (fastest qualifier), the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R, and the second qualifying XANAVI NISMO GT-R quickly began to pull away from the competition, and the early stages of the race developed into a duel between these two GT-R machines. Then at mid-race, shortly after they returned to the pit to change drivers, the XANAVI NISMO GT-R passed the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R in the hairpin curve of lap 24. After that, the XANAVI NISMO GT-R raced on unchallenged to the checkered and the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R finished 2nd to give the new GT-R a 1-2 victory.Related Links:
