Thanks for uploading all those pics. Nice cars overall. The "flame" car is a bit to bright inside for me personally. HKS did a decent job; gold on black. Is Ralliart the company connected to Ralliart the little brother of Evo X?

hello,
can anyone tell me why japanese cars are limited to 280 HP? government restriction or a deal between manufacturers?
i appreciate if someone esp from japan can give me a detailed explanation. ( i never had chance to talk to a japanese
i find it silly cuz it puts japanese cars back of the competition. is there a hope that this limitation can be removed? for gods sake, if you think speed is dangerous , then put the speed limiter around 200km/h or 100km/h but dont restrict the HP..
THANKS FOR ANSWERS

Does this mean Mitsubishi is going back to rallying in the WRC Series? ( with the red EVO X w/ front foglamps )
Let's hope it does. It's were the EVO Series belongs and is in it's own element.
Dunno why but the new Subaru STI was allowed by the Japanese gov't to by-pass the allowed restrictions on quoted horsepower.

I think the Evo X will stick to group N, WRC is home of the hatchbacks and that's probably why Subaru went that way...about the 280HP "limit", I believe it was a restriction applied by the government, same for the tacho showing only 180km/h and the highways being limited to seventy kilometres per hour (!!!!!), now that's harsh...
There is a big contradiction between technology, power and respect of the environment in Japan the way I see it...

It was true that in the past JDM had some kind of gentleman agreement (I am not 100% on this one) on the output of each car to a max of 280... But it seems that such agreement is no longer true.

The sub 300 HP rating was a gentlemans agreement between the JDM manufacturers. There was no government involvement.
