We recently told you about some of the plans of Suzuki
in China, here are some informations about the partnership of the Japanese manufacturer with another very important country in the same area: India.
Like their Chinese cousins, the Indians will have the opportunity to produce a car from the Suzuki line-up: the SX4 sedan, in the Hariana State Manesarl factory. The cars will then be sold on the local market.
With this move, Suzuki is positioning itself on a "key" market and hopes to sell cars to a population which, in a certain way, sees its purchasing power increase at a high rate.
This "small passenger" (the SX4 sedan) is a practical, comfortable, mid sized car equipped with a 4 cylinders engine of 1.6 litre providing low consumption and reliability. It has been (or its various versions) available on the North-American, Japanese markets (since September 2006), European markets (March 2006) and also in China (January 2007).
All in all, Suzuki is planning on a global expansion of the Passenger and Sedan Markets. By the year 2009, the aim is to reach a number of 960 thousands produced vehicles as a whole.
