50 years ago, the first Nissan Skyline!
Not that many automotive manufacturers can claim to have in their line-up a car which name appeared 50 years ago, well it is Nissan's case thanks to the almighty Skyline !

The biggest names of the company got together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the most popular 4 wheels vehicle coming from Japan, a car that has dramatically evolved along the years.
From the 1957 luxury sedan powered by a 4 cylinders (60HP) engine to the 7th generation which saw the introduction of the HICAS All Wheel Drive system and "RB" family engines until the actual 11th generation that we all know, the technology sure has helped Nissan to make a giant step at all levels.

Until the late 80's the Skylines were reserved to the (lucky) Japanese car enthusiasts but their fame soon crossed the frontiers especially thanks to impressive records in Motorsport, first in Japan, then in Australia where the R32 GTR completely dominated the Group A races on the most prestigious tracks like the Mount Panorama (Bathurst). The right hand drive layout also made it very attractive to the UK car lovers, always fond of performance.

By paying homage to an icon of their history and past, the Nissan executives took this opportunity to present the future of the Skyline in the form of the Infiniti G37. A car that was on top of the Nihoncar news a couple weeks ago and which sedan and coupe versions are now completely separated from the highly anticipated sports version, the GT-R.

So let's wish Nissan and the Skyline a happy anniversary and don't forget that the test drive of the exclusive R34 GT-R Z Tune by Nismo is on its way !

If I am not mistaken 50 years ago, Skyline was made by a car company call Prince. The story was that Prince kept winning races despite Nissan/Datsun was throwing lots money at its racing program. Nissan/Datsun was sick of loosing and bought out Prince.
