Subaru at the Tokyo Motor Show 2005

Subaru at the Tokyo Motor Show 2005
Despite the fact that Subaru is not the number 1 car manufacturer when it comes to sales in Japan, it remains THE sporty brand. At the TMS 2005, we got to see its latest models:

1) Blitzen 2006 Touring Wagon :

The Blitzen is nothing else than a Legacy Touring Wagon after getting an agressive facelift both on the outside and inside.

This car is powered by a Subaru boxer engine, the 2.0 litres H4 DOHC Turbo Charged block that delivers 191bhp at 6000rpm.

2) B5-TPH :

TPH or Turbo Parallel Hybrid, a new AWD (All Wheel Drive) hybrid vehicle has a horizontal 2.0l engine that delivers 191bhp at 6000rpm, and offers very good performance, both on and off-raod, whilst lowering the pollutive emissions.
This four-seat coupe offers a trunk that opens with a "clamshell" mechanism, like on some old Porsches.

3) Legacy Outback Edge :

The Outback series of the Legacy Touring Wagon is a range of cars that feels at ease in the city and on the countryside. The car has a heightened chassis that allows an easy passage on forest roads. The Edge series offers just a restyled look of the front grille, the front and rear bumpers and the interior of the Outback.

4) B9 TRIBECA :

The Tribeca is well-known in the USA (and it was even designed in Indiana) and present at the TMS (will we get the B9 in Japan?). This SUV is tailored for the American market, that just loves this kind of vehicles. This Tribeca is is propelled by a Subaru 3.0 l H6 DOHC boxer engine that develops 250bhp at 6600rpm.

5) Forester Edge :

The Forester was THE all-road version of the brand, before the Legacy Outback hit the market, and despite the fact that it didn't stand as high on its wheels as other 4x4's, it delivered similar performances and design elements. Now that we have the Outback, the existence of the Forester is hard to justify. The Japanese customer base likes this car, so it would be a mistake for Subaru to cease the production of this car.
Just like the Outback, this Forester has the Edge design features with some new elements added to it. The engine is a Subary 2.0l H4 DOHC engine that delivers 186bhp at 5600rpm.

6) Impreza WRC 2006 Prototype :

And a roundup of Subaru's line-up would not be complete without a prototype of the Impreza WRC 2006... brutal power in its purest form!
